Shanghai Declaration Reflects Special Article on Nagorno-karabakh Conflict

Shanghai Declaration has been adopted following the 4th Summit of the Conference on Interaction and Confidence Building Measures in Asia (CICA) held in Shanghai. The declaration reflects on a number of issues that are of importance to Azerbaijan, including a special article on the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict.

The signatories of the document expresses concern that Armenia-Azerbaijan conflict has not been resolved yet and still remains as a threat to international and regional security.

“We support the peaceful resolution of this conflict basing on the adopted documents and decisions within international legal norms. To this end, we call on the OSCE Minsk Group to intensify efforts to resolve the conflict,” stated in the document.

The declaration also says the member states agreed that no state will strengthen its security by violating the security of other states. However, the participating countries committed themselves not to threaten or use force against any state.
