Baku Hosts Regional Conference of World Customs Organization

Agshin Rafigoghlu; The 1st regional conference of the European Heads of National Training Centres of the World Customs Organization (WCO) has kicked off in Baku, APA-Economics reports.

Making a keynote speech at the conference, chairman of Azerbaijan State Customs Committee, Vice Chair for the WCO Europe Region Aydin Aliyev said the conference is attended by the representatives of 42 participating and 5 observing countries, a number of international organizations.

He said the conference that will last till January 24 will consist of three sessions - “Urgent issues and exchange of views on customs training”, “Advanced approaches in customs training” and “Outcomes of the conference, the way leading to the future, signing of the final document”.

The theme of the first session was “Customs professionalism and skills”. It focused on the development of national human resources and teaching strategies, improvement of personnel, skills and activity. Exchange of experience was also discussed at the conference.

Aydin Aliyev said it is the first event of this kind.
