38 Insurgents Killed in Nigeria Boko Haram Attack: Military

At least 38 insurgents were killed on Thursday when security operatives repelled an attack launched by suspected Boko Haram members in Damboa area of northeast Nigeria's Borno State, a military spokesperson told Xinhua, APA reports.

Many other attackers fled with various degrees of injury due to the gallantry of the Nigerian troops who got timely information about the attack, said Col. Mohammed Dole, mouthpiece of the 7 Division of the Nigerian Army in Maiduguri, capital of the northern state.

A soldier was killed during the gun fight, he said, adding two other soldiers sustained bullet injuries.

According to the army spokesman, three vehicles -- one laden with improvised explosive devices (IEDs), another loaded with 200 bags of food stuff and a Mitsubishi truck -- were recovered during the operation.
