Rauf Mirgadirov Permitted to Attend His Father's Funeral - Updated

Imprisoned journalist Rauf Mirgadirov has been permitted to attend his father’s funeral.

The journalist’s lawyer Fuad Aghayev told APA that interrogator Ibrahim Lambaranski who is conducting an investigation has called him up, informing that Rauf Mirgadirov has been permitted to attend his father’s funeral.

Baku: “Azerbaijan has already taken over the Chairmanship of CoE Committee of Ministers, the meeting of PACE Standing Committee and Bureau was held in Baku. As for a restrictive decision regarding Azerbaijan, many people can relate it with the attitude to Azerbaijan. But this is no attitude of the Council of Europe to Azerbaijan”.

Vice-Speaker of the Azerbaijani Parliament, Head of the Azerbaijani Delegation to OSCE PA, Bahar Muradova told APA while commenting on PACE’s decision not to hold events in Azerbaijan within two years after PACE Vice-President René Rouquet failed to obtain a visa to visit Azerbaijan.

Muradova noted that Azerbaijan has suffered from an occupation and can not perform the sovereign rights in the occupied lands: “Representatives of several international organizations, officials and parliamentarians of the Council of Europe and different countries regularly visit this region and violate Azerbaijan’s rules and international conventions. Azerbaijan always takes a principal position on these issues. And it declares these persons “persona non grata” and prohibits issuing a visa to Azerbaijan. This is a just position.
